Injector Removal/Replacement
When diesel injectors fail you usually get an engine management light on the dashboard and misfire symptoms. When replacing diesel injectors some vehicles require the new injector to be coded to the vehicle using diagnostics. Injectors can become seized into the engine for reasons such as:
-
Excess water ingress between injector and cylinder head, due to poor manufacturing designs.
-
Corrosion build-up of injector body and cylinder head
-
Injector seal failure leading to excessive carbon build-up between the injector and cylinder head.
-
The difference between running engine temperature to stationary engine temperature and air moisture will cause corrosion build-up.
All of the above can sometimes make it tricky and time consuming to remove an injector.
Specialist extracting tools will be required for seized injectors. When these tools are required extreme forces are put through the injector and cylinder head to extract it.
